On Friday, Amazon's stock rose 15.3 percent - its best trading day since 2012 - after it beat market expectations in its interim report on Thursday.

With a further 5.3 percent rise on Monday, Amazon could now join Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft and Nvidia as the only companies to reach a market capitalisation of $3 trillion.

Amazon's stock has been in decline for most of the past three months, as investors have lost confidence in shares of companies investing in artificial intelligence - concerns that were eased by last week's interim report.
