Amazon will invest over five billion dollars, equivalent to around 47 billion Swedish kronor, in among other things new AI centers in South Korea, announces Seoul.

It is described as the largest foreign investment in the country ever so far. The investments will be made until 2031.

It is the cloud service Amazon Web Services' CEO Matt Garman who informed South Korea's president Lee Jae-Myung about the plans in connection with the Apec meeting in South Korea.

It is in connection with that meeting that the US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping are planned to meet on Thursday.
