The film competed against eleven others in the Platform section, where the jury chose Theja Rio's Indian film "Angh" as the winner.

Kernell's film receives the Jury's Special Prize, an Honorable Mention, for "how its apparent simplicity reflects the complex nature of the world today, its powerful central presence and beautiful visual journey."

"Fantastic, fun and big," says Kernell in a written comment.

"I didn't expect this, knowing how skilled the filmmakers we competed against were. I'm incredibly proud of everyone who made this film possible," she says, continuing:

"The audience has cried and laughed and it has been powerful to see that the theme of forgiveness and finding one's own voice and giving a voice to those who don't have one touches both the audience and the jury."

The festival's audience award went to Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi's "La bola negra".
