49 percent of the retailers surveyed said they had been subjected to theft, threats, violence or other crimes from visitors during the second quarter of 2026. This is an increase of three percentage points compared with the first quarter of the year, according to the industry organisation, which wants to see more action from politicians.
"It is positive that several proposals, such as the abolition of quantity discounts and a modified entry ban, are now being discussed, but the process must be carried out quickly," says Nina Jelver, head of security at Svensk Handel, in a press release.
