On average, people will have to repay almost SEK 29,000. In total, this amounts to over SEK 400 million in recoveries.
"Notify CSN if you earn more than your exemption amount. In most cases, we can then adjust future payments so that you do not have to repay," says Joacim Strömblad, an investigator at CSN, according to a press release.
Many of the recoveries apply to people who had incomes well above the exemption amount, i.e., the limit on how much you can earn without your study allowance being reduced. The person who earned the most had an income of almost 90 million kronor in 2024.
