Johanna Almgren Named Assistant Coach for Women's National Team

The former national team player Johanna Almgren will become assistant national team captain to Tony Gustavsson in the women's national team when he takes up his position after this summer's European Championship. ”I feel an enormous pride over the trust and look forward to an exciting challenge”, says Almgren to the association's website.

This summer, Peter Gerhardsson will make his last championship as the national team captain for the women's football team when the European Championship is decided in Switzerland.

It has been clear for a longer time that Tony Gustavsson will take over the main responsibility after the tournament and now his leadership team is starting to take shape. His assistant national team captain will be Johanna Almgren, who is a trainer for the women's all-Swedish Kristianstad and assistant national team captain in the women's U23 national team.

Almgren has herself made 48 international matches for Sweden. During the autumn, she will work double, but after the women's all-Swedish season, it will be only the national team for the 41-year-old.
