Everyone expected Andreas Almgren to win the Swedish Championship gold medal in the 10,000 metres and he did not disappoint. By the halfway point of the race, he had shaken off all his competitors and crossed the finish line in 28:49.73, almost a minute ahead of second-place Oliver Löfqvist.
"I took this a bit like a training session," says Almgren in SVT's broadcast.
His approach to the Swedish Championship was based on the fact that he is in hard training ahead of the season's big goal, the European Championships in Birmingham in August.
I'm pretty tired after a lot of hard training. I ran about 190 miles this week, despite this race. This is when you enter this important period to really get in shape.
