Premier League referee David Coote is suspended after a video was published on social media where the 42-year-old speaks ill of the former Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp.
In the clip, the football referee says Klopp is "arrogant" and the German coach is also called a derogatory term. It is unclear when and how the video was recorded, but Coote is suspended pending investigation, according to the country's referee organization PGMOL.
According to The Times, the referee organization will also investigate whether the video is genuine or if it has been manipulated using AI, writes Aftonbladet and Expressen.
Coote refereed Liverpool's home game against Aston Villa (2–0) on Saturday.
Klopp left Liverpool after last season after nearly nine years at the club. Recently, it was officially announced that the German will become the global football chief for the Red Bull conglomerate, which owns clubs such as Leipzig, Salzburg, and New York.
