Loss of points in the match against Växjö meant that Alingsås were clear for relegation to Elitettan – and loss of points was what happened. The Damallsvenskan newcomer is thus leaving the series after a season.
The score was 2–1 at halftime, in favor of Alingsås. But in the second half, Växjö equalized, and minutes later the away team also took the lead.
In the 80th minute, Ina Österlind equalized to 3–3. Alingsås pushed for a winning goal, but did not make it all the way and the relegation was a fact.
It has been tough of course, you wish that what we are in now as a team had been a little earlier in the season. It takes time to grow into this, most of our players have no experience of this level so it has been a tough season, messy with injuries and so on, but that you can never blame, says Alingsås coach "PeO" Häggström about the season to Viaplay.
As a coach, it's me who is responsible for this and it's ultimately my responsibility to make sure we make it. I want to take the opportunity to give a big praise to the girls who throughout this time and during all training sessions, we believe in it, we train well, we train hard, and they have not lost energy really at any time.
