Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba's stock is soaring in Monday trading, and has risen nearly 19 percent, reports CNBC.
The increase is due, among other things, to increased sales of the company's cloud service.
The stock exchanges in Asia show mixed results during the first trading day of the week. The Japanese Nikkei 225 index had fallen back 2.0 percent by lunchtime, while the Topix index had lost 0.8 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng had climbed 2.1 percent at the same time.
The Shanghai composite index rose 0.4 percent, while Shenzhen was up 0.3 percent.
