Algeria has raised the incident in which Messi stepped on Aissa Mandi's calf with the sole of his boot, saying it should have resulted in a red card.
There were also two incidents involving elbows, both of which should have led to sending-offs, a source within the Algerian Football Federation told the AFP news agency and continued:
We're not saying the Argentine team wasn't strong, but we can't remain silent in the face of injustice. There were three situations that were completely clear, and VAR didn't intervene.
Argentina won the match 3–0 after Lionel Messi scored all three goals.
