In recent days, nearly 1,500 irregular migrants from several African countries have been stopped at a border crossing, announces the border authority in the city of Arlit.

On Monday, nearly 800 migrants from Nigeria who were traveling in 13 trucks were stopped, 222 of them were children.

Many irregular migrants are seeking to transit country Algeria in order to then try to get to, among other things, EU countries. But many of the migrants remain in Algeria, and the North African country is repeatedly sending migrants away – often across the border to Niger.
