Alexander Isak's Future: Can Top Clubs Afford the Billion-Kronor Star?

Arsenal, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Paris SG... Everyone says: "We want him". Then they have to work. There's nothing else to think about. I'm incredibly happy in Newcastle, in my life, says Alexander Isak.

The 25-year-old is being praised everywhere right now. The speculations about his future did not slow down after the goal and the 2-1 victory in the league cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.

Former top players, coaches, player colleagues, and experts rank Alexander Isak as one of the world's top strikers. With that comes a price tag.

It is over one billion kronor.

According to English media, Newcastle is preparing a new contract worth a bit over 2.6 million kronor per week. Today, he is said to earn around 1.5 million per week.

"Don't know so much"

He has just over three years left on his current contract with Newcastle, and the speculations are for others to deal with.

I don't know so much, to be honest. There are no discussions. It's the same with Newcastle, no one is talking about a contract extension. We have full focus on the season.

He emphasizes that he thrives in the club and in the city. The bond he has with the people and the fans is only getting stronger and stronger.

With that said – what happens in the future remains to be seen. Newcastle is a big club, but there are bigger big clubs.

What drives you?

The driving force is actually each season for itself. This season is not over. There are nine matches left. We have had a really good season so far, but I have bigger ambitions and to finish on a better note.

Want more

I'm not satisfied, I want to finish strong. Next match, next training... that's what matters.

So far, the three seasons in Newcastle have lived up to his high expectations.

My dream when I came here was that we would develop as a club, win things, go to the Champions League. Most of it we have done.

I get to experience all the best things right now.

"His greatest quality is that he is so humble. He is very unselfish, never hesitates to pass the ball." (Teammate Anthony Gordon to BBC Radio 5 Live)

"A fantastic asset for the club, a fantastic player and a fantastic person." (Newcastle's chief commercial officer Peter Silverstone to TV4 Fotbollskanalen)

"In my opinion, he is the best striker in the Premier League." (National team coach Jon Dahl Tomasson).

"He's on fire. He's incredible, everyone knows who he is. The best 'striker' in the Premier League." (Oliver Dovin, national team colleague and goalkeeper in Coventry)
