Eddie Howe took over at Newcastle at the end of 2021 and led the Premier League club to its first title in 70 years after beating Liverpool in the 2025 League Cup. It was a final in which Swedish striker Alexander Isak scored one of the goals.
"Although it has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, I know deep down it is the right one. I have always put Newcastle's best interests before my own, and this is no exception. It has been a great honour to coach this club," said Eddie Howe in a press release.
German Matthias Jaissle, 38, is being tipped as Howe's replacement. Jaissle currently coaches Saudi club al-Ahli.
