I feel fantastic, says Isak, according to AFP.
I feel free and safe in what I do, but looking at the team, we play very well, both when we defend and when we put pressure forward. We are a team and I must see to it that I continue to contribute with goals, says Isak.
The Swedish national team star has not gone goalless from a Premier League match since November. And against Wolverhampton, he continued on the same track.
Scored
In the 34th minute, the super Swede scored again, in his eighth consecutive match. Something no other Newcastle player has managed before. The goal means that Isak passes Newcastle's club icon Alan Shearer in most consecutive matches with goals, and writes club history.
Only two players in Premier League history have scored goals in more consecutive matches. Jamie Vardy holds the record with eleven consecutive, and Ruud van Nistelrooy is second with goals in ten consecutive. Behind them are previously Daniel Sturridge, as well as Vardy and van Nistelrooy (but on another occasion). And now also Swedish Alexander Isak.
The 25-year-old tested a shot, which via a Wolverhampton back deflected the goalkeeper and found its way in.
Assisted
But the Swedish super striker was not satisfied there. In the second half, Isak passed on to score again, and scored his 15th goal for the season.
His second goal meant 2–0 for Newcastle, but the final result was 3–0 after Isak played forward his radar partner Anthony Gordon to the final goal. Thus, Newcastle climbs to fourth place in the table after 21 rounds.
