The reigning champion Liverpool took their fifth straight win and still tops the Premier League table.
But the Swedish new acquisition Alexander Isak has not yet put any clear mark on the team.
Isak made his debut for Liverpool in the Champions League win, 3–2 against Atlético Madrid, on Wednesday. When it was time for the local derby against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, Isak was instead placed on the bench, and another offensive new acquisition, Hugo Ekitiké, took the place as central striker.
Ekitiké delivered and was the one who scored 2–0 in the 29th minute.
Isak replaced Ekitiké in the 67th minute, at the score 2–1. He thus got his first Premier League minutes since the move from league rival Newcastle for about 1.66 billion kronor – a record for the English top division – just before the transfer window closed.
However, Isak did not score any goals, but still got to celebrate another win with his new club.
