The film will start shooting soon in the Stockholm archipelago with Fares Fares, Gustaf Skarsgård, and Linus Wahlgren in the lead roles. The plan is for it to premiere next year.
"Archipelago" takes place during a school trip and is about three dads who accompany their children on a school trip that goes awry.
The film is inspired by Schulman's own life. He is the father of two teenage daughters and discovered one day that the eldest thought he was embarrassing.
Then I decided to go with her on her class trip as an accompanying parent, so we could get closer to each other. It was the stupidest thing I did, he says to DN.
Alex Schulman has previously directed the monologue "Tröstrapporter" at Dramaten, but this will be his debut as a film director. The author will also release a new novel this summer.
