According to the Prosecution Authority, it involves two young men. One of them is suspected on probable grounds of murder and aggravated weapons offense, and the other is reasonably suspected of aiding and abetting aggravated weapons offense.

The alarm about the shooting came in at 22.30 after several people heard loud bangs.

We went there with several patrols and found a gunshot wounded man outdoors in a residential area in Alby and he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, says Per Fahlström, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police.

A large police operation was underway during the night. An investigation into murder has been initiated.

We knocked on doors during the night and talked to people in the area and we have reviewed camera footage. We have also stopped and checked many cars in the Stockholm area.

The police have conducted a technical investigation and are still on site, but most of the cordons were removed by 06.45 on Tuesday.

According to Per Fahlström, it is too early to say if there is any connection to gang crime.

We are carefully investigating what the reasons and motives behind this may be.
