Alarm came in at 22.30 after several people heard bangs in the area that sounded like gunfire.
We went there with several patrols and found a gunshot wounded man outdoors in a residential area in Alby and he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, says Per Fahlström, press spokesperson at the Stockholm police.
Later during the night, the police announced that the man had died.
The police have initiated a preliminary investigation regarding murder and have cordoned off the area for a technical investigation.
By midnight, no one had been arrested.
