Heavy blow for Finland. NHL star Aleksander Barkov will miss the Olympic ice hockey tournament, according to Yle.
The Florida center was injured at the beginning of the season and is missing from the Finnish squad announced today.
Barkov, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, was one of six players pre-nominated for Finland's squad.
Montreal's forward star Patrik Laine, who has had injury problems, will also miss the Olympics.
Finland is the reigning Olympic champion after winning gold in 2022.
