36-year-old Albin Ekdal returned to Allsvenskan in 2024 when he signed with Djurgården. But now it may be the final game.
My contract is expiring. I have not gone to Bosse (Andersson, sports manager) and asked for a new one. I will probably hang up my shoes after this season, says Ekdal.
I hope the transition from football pro to ordinary civilian will go smoothly. But of course it will be tough. But it feels like the right decision.
Ekdal moved abroad at the age of 19 and has played for, among others, Juventus, Bologna, Hamburg, Cagliari and Sampdoria.
He was long a given in the Swedish national team and has played 70 international matches.
