Albania is shutting down the social media platform Tiktok for at least a year from the beginning of 2025, announces the country's Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During a meeting in the capital Tirana with teachers, parents, and psychologists, Rama called Tiktok "the neighborhood hooligan".
We will shut it down for a year and we will start launching programs that will educate students and help parents follow their children's journey, says Rama.
In the USA, a process is also underway to stop Tiktok, since President Joe Biden signed a law in April that can ban the app in the country. There, the US Supreme Court is working on the issue.
