Syria's deposed dictator Bashar al-Assad is in Moscow, Russia's capital.
This is reported by the Russian state-controlled news agencies Tass and RIA, citing a source in the Kremlin. al-Assad and parts of his family are said to have been granted asylum in Russia for humanitarian reasons.
Earlier on Sunday, there was speculation about al-Assad's whereabouts and whether he was alive. Syrian sources told Reuters it was "very likely" that he had died in a plane crash.
Russia's Foreign Ministry stated in a statement earlier on Sunday that al-Assad had left Syria.
