Over 1,100 hectares of land are being ravaged by flames, according to the state rescue service DSNS.
"Due to strong winds, the fire is spreading rapidly and into new parts of the forest," the service wrote on Telegram, adding that gamma radiation levels so far are within normal limits.
It is not clear whether the fire is spreading towards the old nuclear power plant. The Chernobyl Reserve, which manages the forests in the area, said on Telegram that the fire was caused by a drone crash.
An area within a three-mile radius of the damaged Chernobyl nuclear power plant has been cordoned off since the meltdown in 1986.
