Akilov, convicted of terrorist crimes for the five murders in the 2017 terrorist attack on Drottninggatan, is serving a life sentence at the high-security prison Tidaholmsanstalten. Throughout his time in prison, he has misbehaved, threatened staff and gotten into fights, according to Prison and Probation Service documents seen by SVT.
He has long been held in the country's Fenix units, in solitary confinement. In May 2025, he was moved to a somewhat freer prison environment at Tidaholmsanstalten, but after some time in the general population, it was assessed that he cannot be held in any other way than separated from others, the documents show.
Akilov is warned that the misconduct could affect any possible application for a fixed-term sentence.
