The Autumn Speech is held in connection with the party's youth association Ungsvenskarna celebrating its ten-year anniversary.
It is we who must ensure that our side of politics wins, everything indicates that. We lead and the others follow, says the party leader from the stage.
Åkesson highlights what he sees as major successes during the term of office regarding crime prevention, such as the introduction of visitation zones, expansion of correctional facilities and rented institutional places abroad. Not least, he emphasizes the plan for a lowered age of criminal responsibility as a victory – something he describes as a ”paradigm shift”.
Shifting perspective
It is a clearly ideological issue. We are moving from the perspective of rehabilitating and readapting to society, to ensuring the safety of citizens and the redress of crime victims.
In the run-up to the election next year, he talks about delivery as the party's ”main weapon”.
We must deliver on what is in the Tidö Agreement, and we are doing so now. The immigration-extreme parties V, The Green party and C will tear up what we have created, and that must not happen.
”Our weakest group”
According to a survey from SVT, the number of uncertain voters ahead of next year's election is the highest in twelve years, particularly among young women who are hesitant.
It is our weakest group, why it is so I have no good answer to. But we will try to reach them with younger representatives and the youth association. However, ahead of the election year, we will primarily invest in the groups where we are already strong, says Åkesson to TT.
