Airbus expects operating profit to almost double by 2029, which opens up opportunities for acquisitions and share buybacks, according to the company.
The target is annual profit of up to 12-13 billion euros by 2029, and Airbus adds that it will initiate a 5 billion euro share buyback programme over three years.
Airbus has been experiencing production problems for some time, including component shortages. But most of these now appear to have been resolved.
"We have ticked off a lot when it comes to our ability to deliver," says CEO Guillaume Faury at an investor conference in London.
