Several countries have participated in the operation, which for a month under Jordan's leadership has dropped parachute packages with emergency aid over the heavily war-torn strip of land, where the UN-backed IPC on August 22 established that in some areas there is fully developed famine.
Four days later, the last emergency aid was dropped from the air, according to AFP.
A Jordanian government source says the reason is unspecified "Israeli obstacles". The Israeli public service company Kan reports in turn that the drops have ceased "for the time being" on Jordan's and Egypt's initiative.
The stopped emergency aid from the air coincides with Israel intensifying its offensive against the million-city of Gaza City, which it intends to take full military control over.
In late August, the news agency AP reported, citing a source in the Israeli administration, that Israel would soon reduce or even completely cut off emergency aid to parts of northern Gaza, including the air drops over Gaza City.
