In total, almost 3.3 million passengers traveled through Swedavia's airports during the month. The increase was roughly the same in domestic as in international traffic.

The most passengers, 2.4 million, traveled to and from Arlanda outside Stockholm, which accounted for the largest increase, 8 percent, compared to August last year. International travel from the country's largest airport increased by 5 percent, domestic travel by 32 percent.

The next most, 544,000 passengers, traveled via Landvetter.

During the summer, 22 new air lines have been opened at Swedavia's airports, of which 15 from Arlanda, six from Landvetter and one from Bromma.

Among the new airlines are Japanese ANA, Romanian Animawings and Turkish AJet.
