According to Cardoletti, the migrants were traveling on an inflatable rubber boat that left Tunisia on Monday with 56 people on board. After a few hours at sea, the air began to leak out.
The Italian coastguard has rescued ten people, according to the media. The migrants are said to come from the Ivory Coast, Mali, Gambia, and Cameroon.
