228 people died when the plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris on June 1, 2009, including three Swedes.
People of 33 different nationalities were on board.
The airline and the aircraft manufacturer have each been ordered to pay 225,000 euros (S$2.44 million) in damages, the highest fine allowed by law in connection with the death of another person, reports BFMTV.
