It was in a sketch on "Saturday Night Live" that Wood was portrayed by comedian Sarah Sherman. Wearing large dentures, she says, among other things, that she has never heard of fluoride.
Wood, who had previously been open about struggling to accept her teeth, took offense. In a series of posts on Instagram, she states that the sketch made her sad:
"I have a big gap, I don't have bad teeth", she writes and also shares a follower's comment that the sketch breathed "misogynistic 70s".
Wood claims to have received an apology from "Saturday Night Live" and the TV company NBC.
Last week, Wood said in an interview with GQ that all the talk about her teeth is getting in the way of her as an actress.
If I were a man, would they talk about it just as much then? It's still about how a woman looks, she said.
