That coach Roger Melin has done well before in AIK is no news. But the question is whether he has not topped his previous performances in the club now.
After 2–1 away against Karlskoga, the team has now taken 16 consecutive wins in Hockeyallsvenskan, which means that the team equals Modo's and Timrå's record for most consecutive wins.
But it was a close call. Karlskoga has shown itself to be tough to crack this season, but not even the league's best defense could stop AIK.
In the last minute of the match, Oscar Nord made it 2–0 in an open goal, and it looked like it was settled. But with just a few seconds left, Karlskoga reduced the score to 2–1. No closer than that did the table leader come, however.
After 16 consecutive wins, AIK has now secured a comfortable playoff spot. With five rounds left of the regular season, the team is sixth with an eight-point margin down to seventh-placed Oskarshamn. This means that the Stockholm team looks set to avoid the "play-in" and instead take the last quarterfinal spot.
If AIK wins the next match as well, at home against bottom team Östersund, it means that they will set a new record for most consecutive wins, 17 in total.
