AIK started the season slowly and chose to fire coach Markus Åkerblom on December 2. Then Roger Melin took over and since then, it has, at the very least, gone better.
The team has only lost four of the last twenty matches, and on Wednesday evening, the team took its twelfth consecutive victory. And it was not against just any opponent.
AIK won the final Stockholm derby of the regular season against Djurgården in superior style, with 8–4.
The teams were fairly even during the first period (1–0 to AIK), but then "Gnaget" stepped up. In the second period, the pucks flew in and after two periods, the team had pulled away to 5–2.
Djurgården made an attempt to catch up in the third, but without success. Instead, the numbers ran away, and AIK took another victory.
