It was an intense first half for the teams in Solna. Hammarby took the lead when Frank Junior Adjei's shot was deflected into the goal after 13 minutes.
A minute later, it was level when Kevin Filling played Linus Carlstrand through to make it 1–1.
"Bajen" were the better team and created some half-chances. They came closest from the penalty spot, but Paulos Abraham's penalty was saved by national team goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
Abraham would then get his revenge. With seconds left in the first 45 minutes, Nordfeldt made a mistake. Hammarby and Victor Lind stole the ball after a failed pass from the AIK goalkeeper and played Abraham through, who made it 2–1.
The second half was the exact opposite of the first. Hammarby had most of the ball, but it was AIK who had the last word. First Axel Kouamé equalised and with just over ten minutes left, Sixten Gustafsson made it 3–2 and gave AIK a narrow derby victory.
As a group it's wonderful, we may be underdogs but it doesn't matter. It's about who scores the most goals and we do that. This victory builds our group, because what do we have? Three players on the bench who have names on their backs, says Sixten Gustafsson, referring to the squad's several young players who lack surnames on their backs.
The loss is Henrik Rydström's first as Hammarby coach in the Allsvenskan. "Bajen" are six points behind league leaders Sirius, who have one fewer game played.
AIK is fifth on 31 points.
