After the departure of veteran Alexander Milosevic from AIK after last season, a void arose on the center-back position. But now, coach Mikkjal Thomassen has found his replacement.
Filip Benković, 27, who has been clubless since he left the Italian Serie A club Udinese last summer, has signed a contract that extends until December 31, 2026.
"We are happy to have Filip on board. With his experience and qualities, he has the capacity to become a prominent profile in AIK and in Allsvenskan", says the men's team's sports manager Thomas Berntsen to the club's website.
Besides Udinese, the Croat has represented big clubs like Celtic, Leicester, and Dinamo Zagreb.
"It's an incredible feeling and honor to represent such a big and historic club as AIK. I'm a player who loves to win and looks very much forward to helping the club win titles in the coming years", he says.
