The Swedish football club cited both the player's injury problems and his importance to the team.
"AIK Football is happy and proud that Zadok Yohanna has been selected for the Nigerian national team for the Unity Cup, which will be played in London from 26 to 30 May 2026. The decision not to let him travel to London is partly based on the fact that he is in rehabilitation, but also for sporting reasons, as Zadok is an important player for AIK Football," the club said in a statement.
Yohanna missed AIK's last Allsvenskan match against Västerås. Participation in the national team training camp would have meant he would miss AIK's home match against Sirius on May 30.
