AIK Reclaims Allsvenskan Lead with Late Win Over IFK Värnamo

AIK is back in the Allsvenskan league lead. Substitute Johan Hove decided with his late 2-1 goal away against bottom team IFK Värnamo, who still has no points at the bottom.

After Hammarby's home win against reigning champions Malmö FF with 2–0 on Wednesday, Stockholm rivals AIK needed a three-pointer to reclaim the league lead.

So it happened. But it was late in coming.

Norwegian Johan Hove, who was substituted in at the top instead of Victor Andersson after an hour of play, scored the decisive 2–1 goal in the 87th minute on an assist from Mads Thychosen. Jumbo IFK Värnamo has thus started the Allsvenskan in the worst possible way – with five straight losses.

With the win, "Gnaget" passed "Bajen" by one point in the Allsvenskan table and leads with 13. Spring's success team Mjällby is third with 11 points after five rounds.

IFK Göteborg pulled off a giant turnaround in the "friendship match" against IFK Norrköping simultaneously with AIK's late winning goal.

A 0–2 deficit after the first half in Östergötland turned into a 3–2 win after three goals within 24 minutes in the second.

Max Fenger was the blue-and-white hero in the giant turnaround with two goals, to 2–2 and 3–2, the latter on a penalty.

Incredible match. Sickly good, says the Danish striker Max.
