It was a real treat that decided the second semifinal in Nobelhallen. Scott Pooley stood behind the goal and made a pass behind his back that completely fooled the Karlskoga defense – and set up Gerry Fitzgerald for a clear shot to make it 5–4 with over eight minutes left.
I didn't even count on that. A phenomenal pass and an easy goal for me, says Fitzgerald to TV4 Hockey.
It was Fitzgerald's third goal and Pooley's fourth assist in the match.
Teammate Jordan Bellerive was content with an assist, but Fitzgerald and Pooley were not quite done. Pooley also assisted on Fitzgerald's fourth goal – in an empty net with just over a minute left.
Karlskoga also had a three-goal scorer in Hampus Plato, who started the scoring in the beginning of the second period. After AIK still won the eventful middle period 4–2, Plato both reduced and equalized within two minutes in the beginning of the third period.
The score is now 1–1 when the series, which is played in best of seven, continues with two straight matches at Hovet in Stockholm on Saturday and Monday.
In the other semifinal, Djurgården-Södertälje, the score is also 1–1. Next, two matches await in Södertälje.
