AIK supporters are not allowed to use large flags or banners during the next five away matches in the Hockeyallsvenskan. This is part of the punishment from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association after fans lit pyrotechnics during an away match. Now AIK is appealing the decision.

The Solnaklubben is being punished for an incident away against Västerås on October 17, AIK states on its website.

In addition to a penalty, the association's competition committee has imposed a ban on fan items in the away stands during the period November 12–28. During this time, AIK will play five away matches – for example, a heated county derby against Södertälje.

AIK chose on Thursday to file an appeal to the association's appeals board.

"AIK Hockey would like to express its disappointment with the decision that has been made. The incident is linked to the actions of individuals, while the decision and punishment affect the collective and thus the supporter culture," the club writes.
