The series stood 3–2 in Modo's favor when the club from Örnsköldsvik traveled to Stockholm's Hovet for game six of the best-of-seven series.
Modo then recorded a convincing 5–0 victory, advancing to the semifinals.
Viktor Persson gave Modo the lead, and Jesper Olofsson made it 2–0 in the first period. After a scoreless second period, 18-year-old Milton Gästrin made it 3–0 in the third period. Then Kyle Topping and Gerry Fitzgerald each scored to make it 5–0.
Last season, AIK reached the All-Swedish Hockey League final, where they lost to Djurgården. Modo was relegated from the SHL.
