There were important points at stake in the hunt for European places when AIK took on Gais at Nationalarenan.
AIK had to manage without team captain and national team midfielder Anton Salétros. In his place, Aron Csongvai stepped in from the start after two matches on the bench.
The match start would be green and black. After ten minutes, Ibrahim Diabate broke loose in depth and placed 1–0 by Kristoffer Nordfeldt's left post. The goal meant both the striker's first goal in two months and a climb up to shared top scorer.
The guests went to half-time in the lead – and the game did not impress AIK's Bersant Celina.
It's not good enough. We struggle but don't get any game going. The goal we concede is too easy. It's too bad, he said to HBO Max.
When the teams came out again, the kick-off was delayed. A referee change was needed after one of the assistant referees could not continue. Fourth official Mohammed Al-Hakim then had to take over on the sideline.
When the game resumed, it didn't take long before AIK got their equalizer. Bersant Celina fired a beautiful half-volley from the penalty area line to 1–1, which also became the final result.
The Stockholmers are third in the Allsvenskan table, two points ahead of Malmö FF and Gais, who have the same number of points.
