After 22 minutes of play at the National Arena, AIK's new signing, Lucas Assadi, played the ball into the penalty area.
Västerås midfielder Mattis Hellisdal blocked the ball with his thigh, but the referee ruled that the ball had been stopped with his hand and awarded a penalty. The VSK players were furious about the decision and protested wildly.
Johan Hove then made no mistake from the penalty spot and scored the opening goal for AIK, who held on until half-time.
But Västerås didn't give up and the scene changed completely in the second half. After conceding four goals in just over fifteen minutes, loud boos were heard from the AIK crowd against their own team.
With the victory, VSK climb to sixth place in the table. AIK is fifth.
