In the subway, existing surveillance cameras have been connected to an AI system that has been trained to recognize and raise an alarm when movement patterns on the platform indicate that someone is about to jump in front of a train.
The Safety Center can then stop traffic, which has so far helped save 39 lives, according to Region Stockholm.
This is an effective way to support human staff, says traffic region councilor Jakob Dalunde (MP) to the radio.
Nine out of ten deaths in Swedish train and subway traffic are suicides, according to the National Center for Suicide Research and Prevention.
