Shortly after the final whistle in the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, celebrations descended into chaotic scenes.
Several players were involved in a major brawl in which Argentina's Leandro Paredes, among other things, grabbed Spain's Eric Garcia by the throat.
Paredes will be suspended for ten games and will pay the equivalent of approximately 850,000 kronor in fines. Nahuel Molina will be suspended for seven games and will pay the same amount. Assistant coach Roberto Ayala will be suspended for three games.
Thiago Almada and Gavi, the only Spaniard to receive a penalty, are both suspended for one match each.
The Argentine Football Association is also being punished for the banner the team displayed after the semi-final victory against England, which carried the message "The Falkland Islands are Argentine."
The national team will play two matches with limited spectators and the association will pay more than 3 million kronor in fines. One of the matches and just under a million of the fine is subject to a probationary period.
Spain won the World Cup title.
