He dropped out of the 5,000-meter race in Shanghai and came last in the 1,500-meter at the Bauhaus Gala on Sunday. But none of that shaky form was evident when Andreas Almgren finished a fine third at Bislett in Oslo, beaten only by Addisu Yihune and Birhanu Balew.
The time of 12:48.61 was Almgren's second-best time over the distance.
