Gothenburg made 4-3 against Djurgården on away ground while Mjällby dismissed Halmstad at home with 3-0.
Recently, much has been about the threats directed against IFK Gothenburg's elected leadership and employed personnel. In the midst of the storm, club director Håkan Mild has stood firm.
On the pitch, both he and the club's supporters can note that IFK Gothenburg has had a good start to the competition season.
It feels really good. We're playing a really good game. Now it's just a matter of loading up for next week. We're a gang that works hard to develop, says Imam Jagne, one of three goal scorers against Djurgården, to TV4 Play.
Two goals by Fenger
Djurgården's Jacob Une was, for obvious reasons, anything but pleased.
It's a huge disappointment, of course. I had hoped that we would be further ahead in our process than we are. It's insanely irritating, he says.
Djurgården was forced to win to advance in the cup. With a few minutes left until halftime, Oskar Fallenius scored the 2-1 goal, which at that point meant a spot in the upcoming quarterfinals.
Then Max Fenger entered the action. The equalizer came in the 45th minute – and halfway through the second half, the Dane paved the way for further play in the cup.
Thomas Santos secured the group win when he scored from close range in the match's final minutes. Djurgården reduced the score in stoppage time.
Ran over Halmstad
At the same time, Mjällby made 3-0 against Halmstad and advanced via three straight wins and 12-0 in goal difference.
IFK Norrköping joined the clubs that later this spring can win the season's first title. A clear 3-0 away win against a injury- and illness-stricken Gais secured the group win.
Pontus Jansson, Erik Botheim, and Lasse Berg Johnsen arranged 3-0 and ensured that Malmö FF topped their group ahead of Västerås SK.
The group stage concludes on Monday evening with the matches Hammarby–Kalmar FF and Varberg–Stockholm Internazionale.
The clubs that are clear for the quarterfinals in the Swedish Cup: Häcken, Elfsborg, Trelleborg, IFK Gothenburg, Mjällby, IFK Norrköping, Malmö FF.
The quarterfinals will be drawn on Monday evening and played next weekend. Mjällby, Malmö FF, IFK Norrköping, and IFK Gothenburg will have the advantage of home ground.
The semifinals will be played a week later. The final will be decided on May 29.
