Heavily injury-hit NHL team Minnesota calls up Swedish player Liam Öhgren ahead of the end of the regular season and the battle for a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The former captain of the Junior Crowns started the season by scoring four points in 23 matches in the NHL but was then sent down to the farm team Iowa in the AHL.
There, Öhgren has made an impact with a total of 28 points scored in 29 matches.
With 14 matches left in the regular season, Minnesota is well-positioned to secure a wild card spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs. However, with three of the team's big stars, including Swedish players Joel Eriksson-Ek and Jonas Brodin and Russian Kirill Kaprizov, injured, the team's general manager Bill Guerin believes the squad needs to be reinforced.
