Following the extensive storms around the turn of the year, electricity companies have been forced to pay 193 million kronor to affected customers, according to a compilation by Sveriges Radio Ekot.

This is about so-called interruption compensation, which around 40,000 customers are entitled to when they have been without power for at least 12 hours.

Jonatan Björck, communications manager at Ellevio, said he regrets that many had to wait a long time, in some places more than two weeks, to get their power back.

We did everything in our power to resolve the power outages and inform customers, but it was an extreme situation, he told the radio.

In total, around 100,000 Swedes were without power after storm Johannes and the subsequent snowstorm Anna.

In addition to Ellevio, Eon, Vattenfall Eldistribution, Sandviken Energi and Söderhamn Nära are included in Ekot's compilation.
