This concerns Ribersborgsstranden, Sundspromenaden and Scaniabadet, where there was previously an advisory against swimming. However, the change to a total bathing ban is not due to higher measured bacteria levels.
It's about making it easier to accept and understand a ban, says Lars Johansson, unit manager at the property and street office, to Sydsvenskan.
The ban applies from today and until further notice.
It was last week that VA Syd flushed wastewater into the canal in Malmö due to an emergency leak from a sewage line.
