Earlier in May, VA Syd flushed wastewater into the canal in Malmö after an acute leak from a sewage line.

Since the canal is connected to the sea, a swimming ban was introduced at Ribersborgsstranden, Sundspromenaden and Scaniabadet.

But now, water samples show it is safe to swim again.

"New samples taken on Monday show safe water at all of Malmö's swimming areas in the sea. We have now had three approved tests in a row and we see no reason to continue with the bathing ban," Lars Johansson, head of unit at the city of Malmö, told Sydsvenskan.
